Media has been a strong passion of mine from an early age. During a few summers I would visit my grandparents, I would play with my uncle’s over the shoulder video camera (without permission) whenever I had the chance. It was then that I would shoot “short films” while my uncle was at work. I’ve learned a lot over the past several years and made it a goal to not only make creative images, but to also understand the how and why everything worked the way they did. With this knowledge, I have been able to successfully teach what I have learned to people of all ages and have seen their strengths and skills grow in still and motion photography as well.

In 1997, I began a computer animation course that opened up a brand new world for me. We worked on NT4.0 computers, and ran Lightwave, a 3D Modeling software. I fell in love with Computer Animation and continued in the class for 3 years. During those months of modeling and key framing motion, I was able to create a 2 min production, a short film that I was very proud of. But it was then that I knew that it wasn’t the modeling and animation that I loved, but the storytelling aspect of this new CGI world I had created. Storytelling was a passion greater than media for me. But rather than give up media, I decided that media could actually be a vehicle for storytelling. I had been playing with cameras and photography for a few years, but in 2001 I decided it would be my path in life. I decided to get serious about my work. I was 19 and ready to learn. So, I pulled out my debit card, purchased a new prosumer grade camera and purchased the biggest, baddest computer for video editing I could afford. Then, I enrolled in Film School.

I began working for an Internet Service Provider in Houston, Tx and began my day job. The IT world paid my way through school, and provided me with very valuable technical knowledge. It also let me see the science behind the art, and helped me understand that if one could learn the technical side of their work, the creative side would have no limits. While in film school, I took every class I was able to take and spent every free moment shooting and editing. I spent late nights on my computer working on school film projects and personal projects. My “all nighters” weren’t spent to finish up a due project, but were projects that I was so into that I forgot the time and worked until sunrise. Passion projects. Because of my yearning to learn more, I aligned myself with media minded people and anyone who was willing to teach me and mentor me in photography and film. I helped produce theatre productions for Universities in Houston, and co-produced music videos and concerts for Univision and other local media outlets.

In 2012, after a decade of building Websites, and producing Films and Photography projects, I was hired as the Production Director for the First Baptist Church of Hammond. The church was running a local broadcast in the Chicagoland area and was about to make a leap to a nationwide and a global broadcast. It was at this position I was asked to transition to teach college media courses to raise the quality level of the work and productions of the classes being taught. I was able to restructure the Media Department and started teaching Digital Photography, Video Production and Video Editing and Web Design. While I enjoy teaching and having the privilege of instructing students and watching them grow in media experience, I still have opportunities to shoot feature length films, large events and even travel the world shooting short documentaries. In the summer of 2017, my family and I made the move to Atlanta, Ga to work with Go Media. I am excited about the new opportunities and hoping to grow more in my field.

Currently, I am creating a online tutorials and video lessons to help others gain a stronger understanding of photography. I also accept freelance work, and get to team up with other talented individuals on passion projects and mission works.

You can follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin, and get to know some of the projects I work on.
